Most of us have some kind of photo editing software installed on our PC. It might have come bundled with a digital camera, or have been pre-installed when you bought your machine. Wherever it came from, I bet it rarely gets used for one major reason - you don't know how to use it. I'm holding my hand up right now.
PhotoEditor X is a solid photo-editing package with plenty of features. In fact it's more of a general-purpose graphics package with training geared towards photo manipulation.
So how does it stack up against our buyers guide criteria?
Editing effects
All the basics plus lots more. Scaling, cropping, color balancing, brightness, contrast, focus/sharpening and text overlays are present and correct, but also brushes, clone brushes and many more. You can create almost any visual effects with the tools provided
Wizards and one click operations
There are some simple one-click photo enhancements, but most of the operations are a little more involved. It is still intuitive enough
File formats
Almost all file formats are supported, including the most common : bmp, gif, jpeg, mng, pcx, pdf, png, ps, psd, svg, tiff, tga, xpm.
Organization and sharing
PhotoEditorX is not for organizing or sharing images, it is solely for image enhancement. You will need to use your OS filing system or third party software to organise your albums and post to facebook!
Tutorials and training
This is the hidden gem that comes with PhotoEditorX - education. Like all image editors, there is a learning curve involved in getting the best out of the software. If you want to start using Photoshop you pretty much need to take a course or buy a book and spend hours going through tutorials (I've been there - and I still don't feel like I know Photoshop!) whereas PhotoEditorX is simple enough to start using out of the box, but with enough features for advanced users.
The training material bundled with PhotoEditorX is something else. Simple yet effective tutorials and videos will have you up and running in no time. The training material alone is worth the TINY price tag for this software.
Help and support
You'll find most of what you need in the extensive training and support material. The product is mentioned in a few online forums but nothing dedicated exists.
On balance, PhotoEditorX offers more than most photo editors. Strictly speaking it's a full-featured image editor that has been repurposed for photographic work by the extensive tutorials and lessons that are bundled with it. If you are keen to become proficient at image editing and are willing to sit through the video tutorials then this is a very highly recommended product indeed.

PhotoEditorX is a powerful yet simple photo processing software.
My family and I use it to edit and enhance our photos. Highly recommended for its price and usability!
I have now sat through hours of video tutorials from the EditorX team. I would never have read a book or carried out dry tutorials, but video is much more effective as a learning medium. Am planning on filling up my deviantArt account with a wide array of edited images that I am very happy with.
Great great great. Thank you, I'm having wonderful fun with this software!!
I wouldn't call it the most powerful photo editing suite but it's not half bad.
I purchased training with the software and can now quite confidently airbrush areas of images away and touch up scratches and red eye, plus crop etc... Since I take so much care in taking my images it is nice to be able to remove and change some small niggles easily
If you can afford it, get Photoshop. But I know that is really very expensive and complicated so this is an OK alternative. We had a copy in our studio and sometimes the guys would use it for small jobs. For home use it is fine and better than anything free or pre-installed on computers.
